HomeGoods History

HomeGoods was established in 1992 as a discount home decor and furnishings store. More than 300 locations across the United States carry brand and designer name home fashions at 20% to 60% less than catalogs, department or specialty stores. The TJX Companies, Inc. is the parent company of HomeGoods and includes T.J. Maxx, A.J. Wright and Marshalls in the U.S., Winners in Canada, HomeSense in Canada and the United Kingdom, and T.K. Maxx in the U.K., Ireland and Germany. The TJX Companies are based in Framingham, MA.

Merchandise changes frequently and can vary from store to store. The collection ranges from trendy to traditional, and can include rugs, accent furniture, lamps, wall art, tableware, cookware, bed and bath items, children’s furniture, toys and accessories, storage solutions and seasonal merchandise. Products are arranged to showcase decorating trends and design ideas.

Stores are large and carry the basics as well as specialty items for every room of the home. The company buys from vendors around the world, searching for unique, handcrafted merchandise and high-end designer goods. New shipments arrive each week, offering a new shopping experience with each visit. Returns can be made with a register receipt within 30 days of purchase for exchange or refund. Returns after 30 days or without a receipt receive store credit only. Vendors warrant to the company that their products meet all laws, regulations and standards, including human rights standards. If a product is found to be in violation of laws or standards it is removed from sale and, in the case of a recall, information is made available to customers.
